A Few Quick Notes
Here we are in 2012, already approaching our 2nd meeting of the year and it's gonna be jam packed with activity. Hard to believe 2011 is behind us. I certainly hope everyone who made resolutions for this New Year remembered to include their woodturning activities, organization(s), and fellow turners in those resolutions.
Whether it's hunting season or some other reason, we always miss our regular members when they're away. I'm also happy to report we've been seeing several visitors lately, and many have chosen to join our organization. A great big Welcome goes to all our visitors and new members alike!
As I've written before, our organization depends on members who take above average interest in keeping the club functioning well. Those individuals who are able and willing to step up to serve the rest of the membership are essential to the organization. The Officers, Directors, and Managers who already do this are listed in every newsletter, with more positions yet to be filled.
Please take some time to let your elected leaders know what you think of the job they do for the club and/or toss your hat into the ring and offer to fill an open position for 2012. See page 2 of any newsletter for an email address or catch us at the next meeting.

Update In Progress
'Though still much the same visually, the long awaited, much anticipated site revamp is still under way. Most of the accomplishments to date have involved behind-the-scenes leg work, but the many minor issues that keep appearing are being resolved as they arise.
While the initial plan was to keep the current site available while rolling out the new features, it now appears I'll build the new site on a development server, then update this site overnight once everything is ready. No changes will appear here within the week before a meeting, but with the development server nearly ready, I hope to get the new site up soon.
Since the plan includes a few features unique to our site yet useful to woodturners everywhere, to ensure the uniqueness, some features may not be revealed until implemented. Furthermore, certain enhanced information will be available only to active club members via login. One of my goals is to implement individual UserIDs and Passwords for such logins.
Once the new site rolls out, substantial time and effort will still be required to populate the destination pages with the intended content. As you explore, take a look at the "billboards" describing the content to be added at the end of each trail. While you're at it, also consider what you can offer in terms of recommendations, reviews, and other feedback.
From something as simple as a "thumbs up"--to photos, articles, and project directions--there will be many levels of opportunities for members to contribute, resulting in a truly distinctive web site--a site by and of members committed to sharing their collective wisdom and experience along with the Bayou Woodturners' mission of education, illuminated throughout by the added bonus of camaraderie that naturally imbues this large organization with its exciting soul!

Bayou Woodturners is a chapter of American Association of Woodturners. We have a membership of about 100 woodturners, and have monthly meetings where we exchange ideas, share our wood turning knowledge, demonstrate turning techniques and projects. We host regional, national and international demonstrators and host both workshops and hands-on workshops.
