NEXT MEETING

Held the 2nd Saturday of every month, our next regular Bayou Woodturners meeting will be February 11th, starting at 9:00 am at our regular venue, the Harahan Senior Center, 100 Elodie St. in Harahan, LA (Google map). Meetings are open to the public and free to attend unless noted otherwise for a special event.

This meeting will be noteworthy for multiple reasons. While we'll be celebrating the Bayou Woodturners 13th Anniversary, it also sounds like Eddie has put together a mini demo for constructing a shop-made Self Powered Sander. Could this mean there's a new use for that old bicycle gathering dust over in the corner? You'll have to attend to find out!

Tied to the upcoming President's Challenge for April, and continuing a surface embellishment theme begun last month by Sean Sullivan's bowl coloring, finish, and treatments demo, the February meeting's Main Demonstration on Surface Enhancement of Hollow Forms will be by club member John Byl, the second of two Members Educational Grant Program recipients back from Arrowmont to share some of the things they learned there in 2011.

Remember, too, we'll have North Carolina woodturning blanks vendor Mike Smith, of Century Tree Turnings (link opens in new window) at the meeting, with a truckload of blanks to sell.

Officers and other members of the Board of Directors will meet after the regular meeting concludes. Any member in good standing is welcome to sit in on this meeting as well.
