About this event
The annual Sgt. Joe Kelly Freedom Pen Turn-A-Thon will be held Sept. 19, 2026, at the North Oaks Diagnostic Center in Hammond, La. Doors will open for around 7am to allow for set up of the lathes. Please bring your lathe, tools and finishes and also a drop cloth or tarp for the floor and tables. If you plan on attending, let DeAnne McRae know so he can get a head count to be sure to have enough food and drinks available. We will provide the pen kits and blanks and if you need the slips of paper to send with the completed pens, let Joe know so we can have some available. Anybody is welcome to come and help out, either turning the pens or helping assembling the pens. If your new to pen making, now is the perfect chance for some hands on training, come and enjoy.
